The Michelin Guide's review
Built in 1677 on the foundations of a 15C Hindu palace, it is a rare example of Indo-Javanese architecture, mingling Hinduism and Islamism, still standing today. The décor illustrates the city's cosmopolitanism, blending Javanese, Chinese and European motifs and furniture: a sculpted Chinese motif of clouds and rocks; Delft tiles; French furniture, a Hindu-style pendopo in the Siti Inggil (1529) courtyard and a Balinese-inspired door.
