The Maison de la Broderie displays the traditional openwork embroidery produced in Cilaos. This meticulous craft was introduced in the Cirque by Angèle Mac-Auliffe, a doctor's daughter, and the technique was passed down from generation to generation. It consists of pulling threads out of the fabric to create gaps. The prices of these creations reflect the time required to make them: a tablecloth takes eight months!
