The Michelin Guide's review
The fort lies just west of the point where Hadrian's Wall crossed the River Tyne and the remains of the bridge can be seen on the far bank. The four gateways, headquarters building and barrack blocks can still be traced from their foundations. Down by the river are the fascinating remains of a bath house. The museum contains a selection of sculpted stones collected in the vicinity in the 19C.
