Ba Be Lake
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This small lake lies in a landscape of limestone cliffs dotted with waterfalls and gardens. Erosion has formed caves in these rocky cliffs, such as the prosaically named Dong Ba Cua, a cave with "three windows" overlooking the lake. The small islands on the lake are of interest and it's possible to visit some of these or go diving near them. On An Ma Island, a small temple (the "horse's saddle") is dedicated to the spirit of the waters. The south and west banks are inhabited by Tay people.
