Castle of the Princes of Chimay
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This Renaissance castle's bluish-grey limestone façade stands at the end of a vast esplanade. It has belonged to the Camaran family since 1804, and in the drawing room there are portraits of Mme Tallien, who married François-Joseph de Camaran. The eldest son had the Rococo theatre built, a copy of Fontainebleau theatre. The guardroom has retained its old vaulted ceiling, as well as its floor made from 45 000 slates. The keep, with its surbased vaulting, is the most interesting architectural feature of the building.
