The Michelin Guide's review
This marvellous neo-Classical palazzo housing the Chicago Cultural Center was the city's first library. Its noteworthy features include a smooth limestone façade, recessed windows and elaborate Renaissance mouldings at the entrance, its cornice and balconies. The great inlaid-marble stairway joins the Washington Street entrance to Preston Bradley Hall, with its Tiffany glass dome. Another magnificent stained-glass dome is located on the north end of the first floor. Wide array of free cultural events.
