The Michelin Guide's review
Some parts of this church date to the Romanesque era, but as the portal with pilasters gives away, it was reconstructed in the Renaissance. Notice on one of the walls of the polygonal apse an alcove accommodating a granite statue of Santa Maria Maior, considered one of Portugal's oldest statues. On the other side of the church, on a different square, is a Manueline-style pillory.
