The Michelin Guide's review
This immense paved square, which impresses by its dimensions (126m x 90m), was designed by Clément Métezeau, whose brother, Louis, created its twin, the Place des Vosges in Paris. With its elegant gallery of arcades and 24 pink-brick and honey coloured Dom stone pavilions and steep Fumay slate roofs, it is both majestic and inviting. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful Louis XIII-style squares in Europe.
