Overlooking the Cooper River and Charleston Harbor, the modern complex of the South Carolina Aquarium houses some 7 000 creatures and 12 000 plants. The facility focuses on specimens found in the waters around Charleston and includes seven different aquatic environments. Make sure you visit the Touch Tank, where you'll be able to touch and feel sea urchins, crabs and sea anemones.
