The Michelin Guide's review
After passing the Anjou confluence of the Maine and the Loire rivers, whose slopes are rich in prestigious vineyards, you reach Mauges. The Pointe de Bouchemaine, island of Béhuard, Anjou cornice, estate of the Clos de la Coulée de Serrant and hiking trail from Champalud to Champtoceaux are just a few of the treasures of this region. While famous nowadays for its chenin grapes, the banks of this huge, unruly river, dotted with backwaters, used to be a centre for shoe-making.
