Franja Partisan Hospital
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Named in honour of Dr Franja Bojc-Bidovec, its head doctor and director, the hospital was established in 1943 in the Pasice Gorge, near Cerkno, in complete secrecy. It had its own power supply and operating and radiography rooms. 578 resistance fighters of all nationalities were treated there. A powerful defensive system (minefield, bunkers and shelters for the wounded) ensured its security. Never discovered by the Germans, it operated until 5 May 1945.
