The Michelin Guide's review
This castle, the construction of which began in 1292, was first a fortress before its Renaissance transformation in 1530 and its subsequent adoption of the Baroque style at the end of the 18C. It is flanked by imposing corner towers, boasts a façade that overlooks the town and is embellished with windows crowned by rounded pediments. The chapel also dates from the Renaissance period. The theatre (1674), built to an Italian design, is said to be the oldest court theatre in Germany.
