The Michelin Guide's review
Like a viewing platform, the top (196m) of Monte Sirai surveys the mining basin of Iglesiente. Traces of Phoenician occupation, dating from the 8C BCE, then Carthaginian in the late 6C BCE have been uncovered at the Parco Archeologico Monte Sirai. We have the former to thank for the acropolis and the incineration necropolis, while the latter extended the acropolis and created a necropolis with hypogea. The settlement was deserted by its inhabitants c. 100 BCE.
