The Michelin Guide's review
Kirstenbosch Gardens is located on the former estate of Cecil John Rhodes, on the eastern slope of Table Mountain. The greater part of the 528 ha estate is occupied by a park where the plants grow in the wild, while some 36 ha have been reserved as a conservatory for growing species from southern Africa. These well-designed botanical gardens attract many visitors who come to marvel at the play of colours during the multiple flowering times, which reach their peak in early summer (late August-late October).
