The Michelin Guide's review
Grindstone Island is the largest of the Magdalen Islands (French: Îles de la Madeleine) and the commercial and administrative centre of the archipelago. It is divided into three districts (Cap-aux-Meules, Fatima and L'Étang-du-Nord), connected by panoramic roads that wend their way through the wooded hills or along the coastline. The island's name comes from the grindstones discovered in the cape that dominates the port, which is charming, and the liveliest place on the archipelago; don't hesitate to take a stroll there in the evening.
