The Michelin Guide's review
Canberra's main museum, home to 166,000 works of art, is a striking example of the 1970's brutalist style. Its austere grandeur can give rise to conflicting emotions of fascination and dislike. The building's strong point is undoubtedly its artwork, among which its collection of early 20C European, modern American, ancient Asian and Australian art. The NGA also boasts the most extensive collection of Aboriginal art in the world.
