The Michelin Guide's review
The magnificent Prahova valley winds past Mount Bucegi, in the west, and Mount Baiului, in the east. It could be called the "royal valley", because King Carol I lived here, in the impressive castle of Peleş, attracting in his wake the local high society, who adopted Sinaia as their summer resort. Hikers and skiers are now the kings of these summits, making the most of the spectacular mountain landscape and thick forests, inhabited by bears, wolves and lynx.
