The Michelin Guide's review
The mother house of the Camaldolese religious order, founded by St Romuald in the 11C, the convent is set in an immense forest in the mountains. Unlike the imposing monastery, where hospitality is offered, the hermitage is inhabited by monks who have withdrawn from the world. You can access an 11C courtyard with a portico, a small 15C cloister and a 16C Baroque church, the current guise of which dates from the 18C. Go along the left of the building and you will come to the 15C pharmacy, the origins of which date back to the 11C.
