The Michelin Guide's review
This museum set up in D. Carlos I Park, exhibits paintings, sculptures and ceramic collections from the 19-20C. Particularly eye-catching are paintings by José Malhoa (1855-1933), a painter of popular scenes whose art is founded on the use of intense light and the realism of the themes. Another artist, Columbano (1857-1929), nicknamed the "wise man of half-light" has also left some good portraits including Boy's head.
