The Michelin Guide's review
From a delightful little square, admire the carved portal of the Conjunto Monumental Belén (17-18C), which is held to be one of the masterpieces of Plateresque art in Peru. It leads into an immense cloister in the centre of which is a fountain. On the other side of the calle Santisteban, the former women's hospital, which was part of the structure, is now home to the relatively small Museo de Etnografía. It nonetheless contains a few fine ceramic pieces of the Pre-Incan Cajamarca culture.
