The Michelin Guide's review
Begun in the late 17C in the Plateresque style, the cathedral is renowned for its splendid Baroque facade, one of the most richly carved in Peru. Flanked by two unfinished towers, it contains a rococo-style main altar carved out of wood. Next-door to the cathedral, the Sagrario chapel (1685) boasts two handsome carved wooden altarpieces.
