The Michelin Guide's review
In spite of its name, meaning "new path", Via Cammino Nuovo (now pedestrianised) still has its original cobbles and still follows the same course. The western bastions, or Bastioni di Santa Croce, were built as of 1568 based on plans by Rocco Cappellino, and completed by Giorgio Palearo. This fine route leads to Torre dell'Elefante. On the right, steps go down to Santa Chiara Church.
