The Michelin Guide's review
The Valles Calchaquíes, named after the Río Calchaquí, are typical of the country's northwest region, with their vertigo-inducing roads, plateaux bristling with cacti, adobe villages and spectacular geological landscapes amid untamed and pristine nature. Stop off in the village of Cachi, untouched by time, before returning to the track that snakes between red, pink and white canyons to reach the Río Calchaquí, whose brown water is carried towards the vineyards of Cafayate.
