The Michelin Guide's review
The minaret rises vertiginously into the sky above the twenty domes of the 14C Great Mosque (Ulu Camii), one of the most imposing in the city. Inside, the vast spaces enjoy a similarly audacious appearance, with pools of light highlighting the delicate, pious calligraphy. A forest of columns encloses the 19C ablutions fountain, while the minbar, set apart and finely carved out of walnut wood, has a graceful appearance enhanced by the skill of its construction, which required neither glue nor rivets.
