  The Michelin Guide's review
Teatro Colón is considered one of the most prestigious opera houses in the world. Inaugurated in 1857, it was originally located on Plaza de Mayo, only moving to Plaza Lavalle in 1908. Its eclectic style is a blend of the Italian neo-Renaissance and French Baroque. It is reputed for its sumptuous decor, the fresco of its huge cupola, its imposing bronze chandelier, and its remarkable acoustics. The theatre can accommodate 2 500 spectators.
