This museum is devoted to Hungarian painting and sculpture from the 19C to the present day. The 19C painters featured include Mihály Munkácsy and László Paál. The museum also displays some monumental works based on historical themes, such as The Baptism of Vajk by Gyula Benczúr, and organises temporary exhibitions. Come on a clear day to climb up to the dome, where terraces offers a 360° view over Budapest. In 2021, the Hungarian National Gallery is moving to the museum district growing up in City Park, Városliget.
