The Michelin Guide's review
A fascinating insight into the architecture of rural Romania, this open-air village museum is the site of many buildings (houses, barns, workshops, churches), rescued from all over the country or reconstructed using original methods and materials. Depending on the building's region of origin, walls of wood, cob or stone support thatched or tiled roofs. It is a tribute to the rusticity that inspired the research of the great Romanian ethnographer, Dimitrie Gusti.
