The Michelin Guide's review
"Mountains touching the sky and plunging valleys": Vauban was ecstatic when he discovered this spot. No fewer than five valleys (Guisane, Clarée, Durance, Ayes and Cerveyrette) converge here and the hills rise to 2,000m. The Clarée Valley and the Route de l'Izoard should not be missed. Visitors should also see the fortified town of Briançon and head up Granon Pass, the top of which commands a view of the Briançonnais mountains and the lofty Écrins range.
