Founded in 1535, this Beguine convent comprises a group of simple houses built around a courtyard which is home to a garden of medicinal plants and a chapel. The nuns' former chapel, now the Walloon Church (Waalse Kerk), stands at the entrance to the convent. The Friesian former governor of New-Amsterdam (New York) Peter Stuyvesant was married here.
