Santuário Dom Bosco
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Imagine a church where the comparative size of the walls and windows is reversed, with the effect that the church appears to be practically all windows. That vision was made a reality by the brilliant architect Vasconcelos Naves. The Santuário Dom Bosco is a square-shaped church with forty 16m-high pointed rib arches between which Hubert van Doorne's stained-glass windows create an immense spectrum of more than a dozen shades of blue. Note, too, the enormous chandelier (3.5m high and 5m in diameter), which is made up of 7 400 pieces of Murano glass.
