The Michelin Guide's review
The Saxon Church of St. Laurence may date from the 7-8C when, as William of Malmesbury records, St Aldhelm built a church here. Having served as a school, cottage and charnel house, the church was re-discovered in 1856. The minute building is tall and narrow with steeply pitched roofs and blind arcading and is believed to have been built in a single phase. Windows were added in the west end in the late 19C.
