Bradet Wood Church
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The Crâiasa Valley is the ideal destination for those wishing to explore Romania's remarkable wooden churches, often the work of local craftsmen in the 18C. They were decorated with icons and wall paintings, notably by David Zugravul, a travelling artist originally from Curtea de Arges. Don't miss the village of Bradet, where the most striking of these churches, despite its rather sad zinc roof, is framed against a backdrop of fir trees.
