A marshy territory with a background of mountains, this is an impressive landscape with remains from the Bronze Age, the Machrie Moor Stone Circles, the exact purpose of which remains unknown. Arran was on the main migration route of farmers in the Neolithic Age who were headed for the Scottish coast.
