The Michelin Guide's review
The most mountainous region in New England, the White Mountains extend from the north of New Hampshire to Maine and are spectacular all year round. Carpeted in forests, they are renowned for their magnificent autumn colours during the "Fall Foliage" season. During the long, hard winters here, they are popular with skiers and skidoo enthusiasts, while in summer, hikers enjoy the freshness of its landscapes and waterfalls. Visitors can also enjoy superb viewpoints along the Kancamagus Highway!
