Monks' Chapel
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The 12C Monks' Chapel is famous for its mural paintings which are a fine example of Cluniac art. The vaulting of the apse is decorated with a nearly- 4m high Christ in Majesty, surrounded by apostles, bishops and deacons presenting a parchment (the Law) to St Peter. The sides are adorned with the legend of St Blaise and the martyrdom of St Vincent of Saragossa. Beneath the windows, saints and martyrs appear to be emerging from draperies. Specialists will also detect the Byzantine influence.
