The Michelin Guide's review
The Neue Synagoge was built from 1859-66 by Edward Knoblauch, who was inspired by Moorish (façade) and Indian (dome) architecture. Inside the building, the permanent displays relate the synagogue's history, while temporary exhibitions are devoted to the history of the Jews in Berlin. The synagogue has not been fully restored and a glass partition marks the end of the restored section. This overlooks a garden, where traces of the original building can be seen. The dome boasts fine views of the district.
