The Michelin Guide's review
Although the basilica dates from 12C, the North and South porches were added by Giovanni da Campione in the 14C. The Baroque interior is richly decorated with stucco and gilding and is home to nine superb 16C Florentine tapestries based on cartoons by Alessandro Allori recounting the life of the Virgin. At the back of the nave hangs a sumptuous Flemish tapestry depicting the Crucifixion. The Baroque confessional is remarkable, as are the panels of inlaid work representing scenes from the Old Testament.
