The Michelin Guide's review
Crowned by statues, this charming octagonal building underlined by a gallery in red Verona marble decorated with small slender columns and statues representing the Virtues, is a reconstruction of the original work by Giovanni da Campione (1340). Initially installed in the rear of the nave of Santa Maria Maggiore Church, it was considered too un-wieldy and was demolished in 1660 and rebuilt in 1898 on its present site.
