The Michelin Guide's review
Founded in 1796 with the donation of Count Carrara's collection to the town and enriched with additional works since then, the Accademia Carrara occupies a restored neo-Classical palazzo built in 1810. Its splendid collections make it one of Italy's major museums and its layout, arranged in 28 different rooms in chronological order (15C-19C) and according to different themes, is attractive and brightly lit. The many famous artists exhibited here include Andrea Mantegna, Giovanni Bellini, Raphael and Bergognone.
