The Michelin Guide's review
The small town of Bélapátfalva, stretching along a dusty valley, is home to one of the best-preserved gems of Hungarian Cistercian architecture. A path leads to the site of the abbey, whose church, restored in the 18C, is almost intact and nestles in a verdant hollow. The foundations of the abbey, discovered and excavated in 1964, can be seen nearby.
