National Museum of China
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Situated on the eastern side of Tiananmen Square, the National Museum is an amalgamation of two museums - the Museum of Chinese History and the Museum of the Chinese Revolution. In a huge space divided over three floors, superb works of art chart the story of China's past from Yuanmou Man (1.7 million years ago) to the last dynasty, that of the Qing (1644-1911). Two permanent exhibitions provide information on Ancient China and Modern China (from the Opium Wars onwards).
