The Capital Museum, which opened in 2006, immediately impresses visitors with its monumental and innovative architecture. It highlights the history of Beijing via a range of exhibits, including reconstructions of streets and scenes from daily life. The museum is also home to collections of paintings, calligraphy, bronzes, jade, sculptures and porcelain, all of which are enhanced by enlightening commentaries provided by computers available to visitors. High-quality temporary exhibitions from international museums are also hosted by the museum.
