The Michelin Guide's review
A lake occupies most of the total area of the 70ha Beihai Park, which was once used by the emperors as a place of relaxation. Accessible via a bridge from the south gate, Jade Island is a pleasant refuge. Here you'll discover the 17C Yong'an temple and its white dagoba; this 36m-high Tibetan temple has fine views of the park. For an additional yuan, you can also the visit the Circular City which covers an area of 4 533m2, and is home to the largest jade urn in the world.
