  The Michelin Guide's review
Situated to the north of Field, the fossil site of Mount Field (2 635m/8 645ft) is home to traces of multicellular marine life that date back around 540 million years. Of incomparable geological and biological interest, these fossilised remains of spineless marine animals have provided an extremely complete overall view of marine life at the beginning of evolution more than any other site worldwide. The footpaths leading to the Burgess shale offer superb views of Emerald Lake and the Presidential range.
