The Michelin Guide's review
The castle is one of the fortress towns built by Edward I in Wales. Although never finished, it is the finest example of a concentric castle. It is surrounded by a moat and has a fortified dock, with moorings for ships of up to 40 tons. The Great Hall, impressive enough as it stands, would have risen to twice its present height.
