Louisiana State Museum, established in an open, modern building, invites the visitor to embark on an interactive and educational discovery of the history, economy and cultural traditions of Louisiana. On level one, Ground for Greatness explores colonization, slavery, segregation and the civil rights struggle, as well as the oil industry and hurricanes. Experiencing Louisiana, upstairs, showcases the Mardi Gras carnival, the brass band orchestras that play at funerals and life in the Bayou.
