The Michelin Guide's review
This circular esplanade was one of John Wood, the Elder's very first projects, but was not built until 1754. It is lined by identical houses and reached via three access roads that are equidistant from each other. The houses are built of pale Bath stone and decorated with coupled columns; they have three storeys rising to a frieze and acorn-topped balustrade.
