The Michelin Guide's review
Created out of a need to extend and modernise Barcelona, the Eixample district was the shop window for the city's bourgeoisie in the 19C and early 20C and a showcase for its Modernist architecture. It is home to some of its most emblematic buildings such as the Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and the Sagrada Familia. As you stroll through its streets, admire the profusion of innovative materials used during the period to create its monumental façades.
