The Michelin Guide's review
Wat Arun is easily recognisable by its huge central prang (114m high), which is built in Khmer-style and symbolises Mount Meru, believed to be the centre of the universe. It is decorated with extraordinary, multicoloured, porcelain bas-reliefs depicting animals and plants, which shine brightly in the setting sun. At each corner of the building stands a smaller prang. This temple is dedicated to the Hindu god of the day, Aruna.
