The Michelin Guide's review
In the 18C, during the reign of King Taksin, Burmese prisoners of war were executed at Wat Suwanaram. Restored in the 1820s, the temple hosted cremation ceremonies for some members of the royal family and other important dignitaries. A statue of a seated Buddha stands with its back to the river. Crowned with a roof embellished with garuda and glass mosaics, the ubosot has retained some superb early 19C murals which depict the previous lives of the Buddha.
